Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Niagara Falls, New York - Ontario, Canada!
Breathtaking Niagara Falls, straddling the Canada-U.S border, ranks as far more than a honeymoon destination, offering multi-faceted recreation, entertainment, and cultural opportunities, many with historic intrigue. Impossible to upstage, Niagara Falls, New York and Niagara Falls, Ontario remain the star attractions, of course. The higher 184-foot American falls and the 176-foot Canadian (or Horseshoe) falls are separated from Bridal Veil, the smallest of Niagara’s falls, by Luna and Goat islands. Niagara helicopter excursions provide an aerial perspective. Other attractions range from the Criminals Hall of Fame Wax Museum and the Classic Iron Motorcycle Museum to the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom at the Niagara Falls Aviary, and Warner’s Ranch and Pumpkin Farm. Outdoor activities are plentiful within this region, from golf on any of more than 40 courses to exploration of archeological remnants. Villages from the ancient Iroquois culture reveal ties with the land that even now characterize much of Niagara.
European explorers, arriving in the 17th century, did not establish homes until after the War of 1812. This was a turning point, when the U.S. Army fought British Loyalists who fled America for lands that would become Canada. Niagara’s historic sites and battlefields, museums and military re-creations provide for journeys into the past. Fort Erie was an entry point for freedom-seeking slaves escaping persecution in the U.S. The point of entry into Canada from Buffalo, across the Niagara River, was known as "The Crossing" and the start of the Freedom Trail, part of the Underground Railroad. Shoppers often head to Rossi Glass, Canada’s only manufacturer of cranberry collectible glass, and Canada One Factory Outlets, a collection of more than 40 brand name stores including Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Reebok and Roots. From luxury to modest, Niagara accommodations range from historic inns and landmark hotels to brand new resort properties.
